Self Introduction
Dear Recruiter,
I am looking for a teaching opportunity where I can utilize my experience, education, and deep commitment to quality education for my students. In , after a number of years of working in independent film, the nonprofit sphere, higher education, the corporate arena, state government, and educational grants management, I returned to the classroom. Please allow me to elaborate.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the wellregarded Millersville University of Pennsylvania, and taught middle school for the next three years.
I then attended graduate school in Baltimore, Maryland, where I earned a master’s degree in History and qualified for membership in Phi Alpha Theta, a national academic honor society. I was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship, and after completing my thesis, I left for Ghana.
I returned to the United States and subsequently taught at elementary and middle schools in Reading, PA, and Atlanta, GA.
I spent a year studying Film & Media at The American University in Washington, D.C., and as a graduate assistant, I taught one class on screenwriting and filmmaking to freshman students.
Over the course of several years in Los Angeles, I taught weekend classes in English, reading comprehension, and math to middle school students; and I tutored high school students as well.
I taught English in Taipei, Taiwan for the second half of the school year. Since October of , I have taught fifth, sixth and seventh grade math in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. I have conducted my classes online from April to the current day, due to our school going remote as a result of Covid.
I am a native English speaker and a U.S. citizen. I have earned my professional TEFL certificate hours.
